Grip fails before technique does. Two towels, because one of them is always already damp.
Waffle weave, not flat cotton
The waffle texture lifts moisture off a disc rim faster than a flat weave and dries quicker between holes. At 30 × 50 cm each they are large enough to be useful and small enough to clip to a bag without flapping around.
Why two matters
One stays dry for your hands, the other does the actual cleaning. On a wet round the difference between a dry grip and a damp one costs more strokes than most equipment decisions ever will.
